Remove Microsoft Silverlight from macOS

Did you install Microsoft Silverlight on your Macintosh, no longer visit websites that need it, and are tired of the pop-ups that ask to update it? Here is how to painlessly remove Microsoft Silverlight from macOS.

Let me know how this removal process worked out for you.

Uninstall Microsoft Silverlight from macOS

  1. Use the Finder to open: /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
  2. Delete Silverlight.plugin
  3. Delete WPFe.plugin (if it exists).

Notes

  • The file(s) to be removed are in the macOS “System Library,” not your “user Library.” Use the exact path above.
  • You are prompted to type in your administrative password when you modify library files. In this case, you are deleting files.
